Alison Letten BEd (hons)

I am a primary school teacher and historian. I taught full time for nearly ten years in south Devon, working in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with curriculum responsibility for history.
I am CRB checked and cleared to work with children.
I was born in Dorchester and lived there until I went to Rolle College in Exmouth for a four year degree in Education, with Music as my main subject, within the domain of the Expressive Arts: art, music, drama. I graduated from Exeter University in 1992 and moved to Totnes to take a teaching position at Dartington CE Primary School.
I still live in Totnes, with my husband and two children. I enjoy time with my family and my hobbies include reading, music, gardening and research. In October 2006, all four of us ‘took off’ for an eight-month long adventure, backpacking our way around the world. It was an incredible experience.
I am particularly interested in the history of Totnes and this year I have started to offer guided walks of the historic town to the general public, please click on ‘Elizabethan Tuesdays’ for more information.
Totnes Education Service
~ TRAVELLERS IN TIME ~
In 2001, I took over the thriving business of Totnes Education Service and I now deliver rich history experiences to children under the title ‘TRAVELLERS IN TIME’.
Over the years I have developed and expanded the workshops and now offer a wide range of quality Activity Days to enhance and extend the learning experiences available to children. All of the days are thoroughly researched and the characters developed and interpreted to provide authentic and believable living history experiences, with great attention to detail.
In addition to workshops offered in schools, I provide educational guided tours of Totnes to maximise the learning opportunities provided by a visit to this historic town.
