The ‘French Day’ is a themed cross-curricular day full of hands-on activities designed to provide a context for the children’s learning of the French language and to extend their knowledge and understanding of the country.
The children, armed with passports, follow a tour itinerary for the day, to enjoy a wide range of activities based around different settings: Paris - Le Café, Le Parc, Le Tour Eiffel, La Mairie; and beyond - Le Vignoble, La Poste, La Marche, La Grotte de Lascaux. The activities provide opportunities to practice some basic French conversation and one or two involve sampling typical French food - cheeses, baguettes, croissants, hot chocolate -all provided at no extra cost. An impromptu ’show’ completes the day which can include any French songs that you may have learned. Other classes or parents can be invited in. Please note that extra adults are needed to help the children to fully engage with the experiences on offer, ideally four adults for a class of about 30.
