A day designed to enhance and extend the children’s learning about The Great Fire of London. Using a unique mixture of interesting facts, entertaining stories, role-play scenarios and reproduction artefacts, Mystress Jane, servant from the household of Pepys himself, brings seventeenth century London to life.
Activities include:
Writing with quills, making ‘small cakes’ – a recipe from the 1660’s, making posies and charms, and dancing. The day concludes with our taste of the time ~ eating our ‘small cakes’.
This day supports Unit 5 of QCA History Schemes of Work - Key stage 1
